YOU’RE THAT BITCH: AND OTHER LESSONS ABOUT BEING UNAPOLOGETICALLY YOURSELF BY BRETMAN ROCK: IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT – BOOK REVIEW

hello, everyone! how’s your November so far?

i have not posted for a very long time, but thank you for still following my blog! i finished reading the very first memoir i have ever read, and it did not disappoint.

here are my thoughts, and don’t forget to have some bookish fun!

You’re That Bitch: And Other Lessons About Being Unapologetically Yourself by Bretman Rock surely got me cackling, and reflecting, although i found myself cackling for the most part. in this memoir, Bretman showed a part of himself that the cameras failed to capture, his vulnerability and honesty. the book also contained photos from his past, as well as tips about the different spectrums of life. this memoir was a tea specially brewed by Bretman, and i savored every drop. i loved that Bretman did not just focus about his life in America, but also emphasized his life while he was still in the Philippines, and how that shaped his journey as an American immigrant and an individual. Bretman did not hold back in this memoir, as he also celebrated the women who accepted his identity one blush at a time, the people who believed in his many talents, and his queerness. at the end, i found myself empowered and thinking that, yeah, i can be that bitch, too!
